about Smokin’ Lobos Barbeque & Grill

Smō ● kĭn’ transitive verb meaning to cure, cook or treat food such as meat, fish, or

cheese with wood smoke. Lō ● bōs Spanish for wolf–a large intelligent highly social wild
dog.

My name is Bob Wolf and I welcome you to our family restaurant. This is a little story of
how we got here…

Originally from the West, I’ve been cooking on the grill since I was in high school, which
was many moons ago. My step-father was not a good cook. In fact, most everything off
the grill was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. I do give him credit for trying,
but we needed to eat. So I took the tongs away from him and did the grilling myself. My
mother did all the cooking in the kitchen, where I learned different techniques from
watching her. I also began experimenting with seasonings and created my own marinades.
That passion continued into adulthood. My nieces and nephew always wanted
Uncle Bob’s grilled chicken.

With seven children of my own, I was use to feeding many mouths in my home. The
easiest form of cooking for me was with the grill. However, we lived in extremely harsh
environments at times, like 40° below zero with 40 mph winds in Wyoming, and starting
a fire in the grill was challenging, if not impossible. So I needed to compromise and
cook indoors occasionally. My culinary training came from many of the top chefs in the
world, thanks to cooking shows on TV. As my children grew and left the house, I knew
they would visit if I fed them. That began our Saturday “dinner and a movie” time. My
children and their families became my guinea pigs when I would experiment on them
with different meals. Additionally, the passion for cooking was passed on to a few of my
boys.

For me, cooking for others was like hitting a homerun or catching a really big fish. My
wife, Cheryl, has the gift of hospitality and would invite friends over for dinner. Then we
started throwing parties with over 100 guests at a time. I figured, if I can feed that many,
maybe I could cater events outside the home. That’s when Wolfpack Catering Company
started.

Our signature barbeque sauce, Bob’s, has been developed over the past couple of decades
because nothing on the market satisfied me. Soon family and friends began to buy
the sauce, which created the idea of having it bottled professionally.
Smokin’ Lobos is an extension of our kitchen table. Our hope is you will feel at home
while dining here. Our style is a little different from “Southern BBQ.” I guess you can
call it “Western BBQ.” We hope you will call it the best barbeque you ever had!
